Cropredy 2013 line-up of acts

Fairport Acoustic Convention

A warm welcome to the festival from the host band’s semi-acoustic line-up.

Fake Thackray

John Watterson presents his acclaimed and inspired homage to the late Jake Thackray.

Romeo’s Daughter

Sophisticated and powerful melodic rock ballads from this long-established band.

Edward II

Edward II’s high-energy blend of reggae, English folk, and jazz licks makes them one of the UK’s most exciting world/roots crossover bands.

Alice Cooper
One of rock music’s great originals, Alice Cooper is renowned for his stagecraft and showmanship. Alice has been on the Cropredy ‘wish list’ for years and now at last will present his grandly theatrical show at Fairport’s Cropredy Convention. This will be Alice Cooper’s only UK performance during 2013.

Greg Russell and Ciaran Algar
Winners of this year’s BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award, Greg and Ciaran are a lively multi-instrumental duo who play a mixture of traditional and original material.

Danny & The Champions of the World
Soulful rock’n’roll with a UK-Americana flavour from Danny & the Champions of the World.

Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman
Devon-based husband-and-wife Kathryn and Sean deservedly won ‘Best Duo’ at this year’s BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

One of the most innovative and idiosyncratic alt-folk bands on the scene, Moulettes fuse elements of prog, indie, classical, and jazz with folk roots.

One of Ireland’s most popular and exciting live acts, Lùnasa presents a vibrant and inventive interpretation of traditional Irish acoustic music.

Martin Barre’s A New Day
Fairport has long enjoyed close connections with Jethro Tull so Martin is no stranger to Cropredy. A New Day will perform a set based on the music of Jethro Tull.

Expect a storming and exuberant set from this legendary folkrock powerhouse, winners of the prestigious ‘Festival Feel-Good Act’ award.

Back by popular demand, 10CC went down a storm at Cropredy in 2006 with their great musicianship and well-loved hits. Here is another chance to sing along to a musical masterclass.

Richard Digance
Richard’s crowd-pleasing Saturday opener has become a traditional feature of Cropredy.

Mediaeval Baebes
Rooted in medieval madrigals, Mediaeval Baebes’ music is timelessly beautiful, a true crossover between ancient and modern. The singers have great individual voices but their harmony singing is even more stunning.

Brooks Williams
UK-based singer-songwriter Brooks Williams is a talented guitarist who delivers self-penned songs with an easy-going vocal style. Brought up in Georgia, USA, Brooks brings tasteful blues and Americana to Cropredy.

The Dunwells

Leeds-based, The Dunwells are gaining a reputation for their exhilarating blend of English rock and American roots music.

Peatbog Faeries

Hailing from the Isle of Skye, Peatbog Faeries are one of Scotland’s best known contemporary bands. Twice winners of ‘Live Act of the Year Award’ at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards, they bring an energetic and individual approach to Scottish music.

Nik Kershaw
Another return by popular request. Nik last played Cropredy in 2009 when the crowd loved his beautifully crafted set. This year Nik will be performing solo.

Fairport Convention and guests
As always, the festival will end with a stunning three-hour set by Fairport Convention and their musical guests. Fairport’s Cropredy set gives the band a chance to really stretch its wings and roam far and wide through a repertoire stretching back over forty years.
