A Trove of Oscar-Caliber Talent

File1446677975066
Hi Karl,

The Academy Awards are just a couple of weekends away now. As that final countdown begins, we wanted to give a congratulatory shout-out to all those Slated members who have worked on this year’s nominated films. By our reckoning, at least 92 executives and artists will be eagerly awaiting the names out of the envelope on February 28. They have a stake in 31 of the 57 films that are up for statuettes this year, a 54% share that accounts for as many as 65 of the 120 nominations. If you are looking for A-list talent to work alongside you on your next projects, you know where to find them!

Eight members of the Slated community have been personally nominated this year. Tom McCarthy is up for both Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for his work on SPOTLIGHT, a Best Picture contender that was produced by Blye Faust. Another writer in contention is Eric Dupont, for her adaptation that led to CAROL.

Among the visual effects wizards nominated for their mesmerizing work on MAD MAX; FURY ROAD is Andy Williams. In the live-action short film category, writer-director Basil Khalil and producer Eric Dupont have a shot of Oscar glory with their film AVE MARIA. And on the documentary feature side we have both Evgeny Afineevsky, the director and producer of WINTER ON FIRE: UKRAINE’S FIGHT FOR FREEDOM and Amy Hobby, producer of WHAT HAPPENED, MISS SIMONE? challenging for the big prize. Whatever happens on the night, you are all winners already – and we can’t wait to see how your creativity will be expressed on future films.
